Reverse Rummage Sale
Tree of Life, a United Methodist-related ministry in Mission, S.D., on Rosebud Indian Reservation, was flooded on Tuesday, June 2. Therefore, they need items for their thrift store that not only provides inexpensive items for those in need but also funds the ministry. Therefore, until the end of the month, we are collecting items here in the church parlor. Most needed are children’s clothing & jackets, underwear of all sizes, boots and shoes of all sizes, cooking utensils, personal hygiene items, bedding, blankets, sheets, pillows, paper products, and furniture.
Summer Nights
Some say evangelism is telling others the good news of Jesus Christ. Others say it is simply one person telling another where they can get water. Still others say, “Proclaim the gospel, use words if necessary.” At Summer Nights on Thursdays from about 5:30-7:30 p.m., we are proclaiming the gospel by giving away water (or popcorn, snow cones or whatever the item is for the week). Last week, children as young as 3-years-old helped give away 100 small bottles of water and demonstrated hospitality to strangers.
So, in the coming weeks, we need volunteers to help us set up the “booth” about 5:15 p.m., staff it until about 7:30 p.m., and help put it away. If you are willing to give us a couple hours or donate some supplies such as water bottles and flavor packets, that would be great. Much thanks to those who have already donated. We are having fun connecting our church to those who thirst, whether it be for bottled water or Living Water.
