Decorating for Easter Sunday

On April 4, at 9:00 a.m. we will decorate the sanctuary for Easter! All are welcome to join and lend a hand.

You Are Invited

In order to more fully comprehend the joy of Easter, we have to at least acknowledge, along with the first disciples, the sadness of the death of Jesus. Everyone knew that Jesus had died, and they feared the end of the hope He embodies. Therefore, in order to acknowledge the death of Christ, we pastors invite you to experience a full range of emotions this Holy Week. One way to do that is by attending the Tenebrae service of Maundy Thursday in our sanctuary at 6 p.m. on April 2. The choir will sing a number of musical selections along the theme of light. Several people will provide spoken narration, we will dim the lights, and strip the chancel, leaving in silent darkness to await the days to come. In the midst of that service, we will offer Holy Communion, reminiscent of the first Maundy Thursday. We pray that you and all those you invite will find the service meaningful and memorable.

Also, we invite you to attend the noon service on Good Friday, April 3, with Pastor CC preaching.

Holy Week Services

During Holy Week, March 30 through April 3, we will have noon services with lunch provided.

Sack Lunches Mission Possible Wednesday, April 8

We will be making sack lunches on Wednesday, April 8 at 6:00 p.m. The sack lunches we make will be distributed by Trinity Lutheran Church’s downtown lunch ministry. If we have several volunteers on April 8, we can branch into a second mission project of constructing our indoor greenhouse to be used for our RCFUMC summer camps in June and August. Everyone serving is welcome to join us for dinner at the church beginning at 5:30 p.m. There will be a sign-up sheet in the church narthex. Signing up lets us know how much food to prepare for dinner and how many hands we will have for service projects. If we have enough hands, we will add a third mission activity. Mission Team Serving at Cornerstone

Answering the call to be the hands and feet of Christ out in the world, Rapid City First United Methodist is partnering with Cornerstone Mission to serve meals on the 2nd Tuesday (May 12th), beginning with setup at 4:30 p.m. and serving at 5:30 p.m. We are looking for at least 6 servers for the meals, as well as people to help cook, bake, and coordinate the meal. This is open to anyone who is interested in being part of a team, working together to bring not only a hot, nutritious meal but also the love of Christ to those Cornerstone serves. Easter Journeys

Easter Journeys is a six-part adventure that invites children to walk step-by-step through the true story of Easter. They will travel with Jesus into Jerusalem, sit with Him in the Upper Room, pray with Him in the Garden of Gethsemane, reflect at the cross on Golgotha, and celebrate the joy of the empty tomb.

Each part of the journey shows us who Jesus is and what He has done for us. As children travel through each week, they will add a stamp to their passport or journey map. Each stop along the way will be filled with interactive storytelling, games, and crafts. Every step points to God's plan of salvation and leads to the greatest truth of all: Jesus gave His life for us and is alive forever, walking with each of us as we travel through life.

Blanket Project: Donations of children's themed fleece fabric are needed (3 and 1/4 yards).
These donations go towards completed tie blankets that are donated to the Children's Home Society later in the year.
