Native American Sunday
On Sunday, April 26, we will receive the annual special offering for Native American Sunday. This is one of eight annual special offerings set by our connectional structure. Half of the offering stays in the Dakotas to fund Native American ministries here. The other half goes for scholarships and programs nationwide. There will be envelopes inserted in the bulletins with more information about this special Sunday. You may use those envelopes for your donation. We will also have a “noisy offering” for this cause on Sunday. So, we ask you to bring not only change that jingles, but also cash that crinkles for this noisy offering to support Native American ministries. In this way, we can attract and recruit more United Methodist pastors, such as CC Coates, who is part Native.
Sign up for Meal Train
When someone in our church is recovering from surgery, is newly widowed, or has a temporary loss of mobility that makes it difficult to find or prepare inexpensive, hot, nutritious meals, our church organizes volunteers to provide a few meals for them for a certain amount of time.
The meal train is organized electronically. When a need is identified, our coordinator, Melani Greer, sends an e-mail to those who agree to receive invitations to provide meals. The e-mail directs the user to an electronic signup system, and the user then creates the meal and drops it off to the recipient or some centralized location.
There is currently at least one meal train the church is providing. So, to sign up, register at the welcome center in the church parlor or see Melani Greer at 402-350-3581.
Lord's Prayer Book Study
We recite the Lord’s Prayer every week in worship. Do we know what we are saying or why we are praying it? The upcoming worship series (April 26-June 14) seeks to answer those questions. Come and take a deep dive with us for six weeks as we explore the power and meaning of this first Christian model of prayer.
Scripture and Hamilton’s book, the Lord’s Prayer: The Meaning and Power of the Prayer Jesus Taught,” will form the basis of the worship series. For those who want to go beyond the sermon, the pastors will lead Wednesday night studies in the church parlor at 6 p.m. starting on April 22. Books are available in the office for $10.
